What is Chinese Drywall?
Also referred to as
"Contaminated Drywall" or "Tainted Drywall", "Chinese Drywall" is
drywall imported from China from 2001 - 2007. Heat and humidity
cause the drywall to release gases that corrode copper and other metal
surfaces. It damages your air conditioner, electrical wiring,
copper plumping, appliances and electronics. The drywall can also
release small particles that can easily enter your lungs.
What are the signs of Chinese
Drywall?
The symptoms of a house
with Chinese drywall include a sulfur-like (rotten egg) smell,
discoloration and deterioration of plumbing fixtures, darkening and
discoloration of electric wiring conductors, air conditioning evaporator
coils, and other exposed metal and wiring components, including jewelry.
Suspect you may have Chinese
Drywall?
If you suspect that you
have Chinese drywall, the first step is to hire a consultant to perform
a screening process to determine if there is a reason to believe that
Chinese drywall is present. This relatively inexpensive step can
guide homeowners toward the proper solution if there are indicators that
justify the expensive ($350 or more) and destructive removal of samples
for laboratory tests necessary to confirm Chinese drywall is present.
Tepee Inspections, Inc.
has developed a comprehensive screening process designed to provide
homeowners peace of mind and minimize expensive laboratory testing.
Our affiliation with Pro-Lab®,
a Florida certified testing laboratory, allows us to
proceed with the level of evaluation necessary to satisfy each customers
concerns. We will provide the homeowner with a detailed written
report of the findings and recommendations. This service is
provided to all our customers for only $150.00.
